East Beach The east beach is considered the safest beach on Shimmer Island, which means youngsters can play without fear. Tidepools dot the area, and sparkling white sand dazzles the eye. Crocodiles rarely come here, making it a good place to relax. |

The Dunes Small hills of sand create a wide barrier zone between the beach and the forest. Tall grasses cover a fair-sized portion of it, spotted with bushes and small trees. This is good hunting grounds for small prey, and also serves as a buffer zone for storm-induced floods. Small thickets are present, making calm, secretive areas for a nap or private conversation. |

The Plains A wide ring of tall grass and gently sloping hills encircles the rainforest. Small ponds are present, fed by springs, and palm and savanna trees. As you go further inland, the elevation increases until you hit the central mountain. The plains are home to deer and other creatures, making for excellent large-game hunting. |

Orchid Rainforest Not as humid as some rainforests, this area is lush and overgrown. Animal calls are always present, and many tropical birds and other animals are seen here. Beware of poisonous frogs, snakes and spiders, though. |

Mt. Cirren More a large, forested hill than a mountain, Mt. Cirren rises up from the center of Shimmer Island. Easily climbable, although it's not the highest mountain in the islands. The top of the island is not wooded, making it a good place to stargaze. |

Mangrove Marsh A briny marsh covers the south side of the island. Thick vegetation pushes up through the sandy mud, and tall grass and mangrove trees grow in the water. it is fresh enough to drink, but you can still the taste the sea a little bit. Crocodiles, buffalo, and deer live here, and tiny crabs scuttle underfoot. |

West Beach Rockier than the eastern beach, the western edge of the island is also considered more dangerous. Crocodiles have been sighted here, along with the occasional shark in deeper water. Since this side of the island is closer to Eagle Rocks, the large birds are sighted more often here. If you can fish, though, it's a good place to find food. |
