What are Traits and Abilities?
A trait is a physical attribute that a normal wolf wouldn't have. An ability is one magical talent. From here on, I'll be referring to them collectively as powers. Characters are not required to have both, or even either one, although powerless wolves may be teased or have to work harder to survive. Both are hereditary, so if they do have a trait or ability, it will usually be related to that of a parent.
Ex:
Bob and Alice have a pup, Carol. Bob has ram horns and can turn invisible. Alice has bioluminescent (like a firefly) markings and can levitate small objects. Their child, Carol, must have a trait/ability that relates to what her parents have. Thus, let's say Carol has horns (shape doesn't matter) and can hover for short distances. She gets her headgear from her father and the power to levitate something (in this case herself) from her mother. This wouldn't have much effect on characters, unless they had pups.
Powers do not have to help a wolf. They can have a trait or ability that makes life difficult for them, or doesn't help either way.
Trait Examples: These are not the only traits allowed. Take your ideas from nature!
Any kind of horns/antlers (Antlers can be bigger but must be shed each winter)
Multiple/missing limbs/tails/eyes
Venom (Delivered through fangs)
Poison (Delivered when something bites it)
Camouflage-capable fur (color-changing)
Glowing markings (Can be 'turned' on and off)
Intricate markings/body symbols
Elongated/retractable claws
Dexterous paws (can hold stuff)
Wings of any sort
Spikes
Elongated/retractable fangs
Scaly/feathered body areas or long fur
Plants growing out of the body
Ability Examples: These are not the only abilities allowed, but don't go overboard.
Controlling one element (air/water/earth/fire/shadow/light/etc)
Hovering without wings (Difficult to sustain)
Mind control (BE CAREFUL NOT TO POWERPLAY. This power can only put an idea into someone's head.)
Gift of tongues (One language or many, but considering wolves are carnivores, hearing your prey's screaming might not be such a good thing.)
Walking on water
Telekinesis (moving objects with mind)
Telepathy
Empathy (sensing emotions)
Creating illusions
Healing (must also tire out the healer, must require contact or close proximity)
Leeching (reverse healing, must require contact or close proximity)
Paralyzing stare (can be overcome with effort)
